Israel hizo estallar una sinagoga durante la festividad judía de Pésaj. La sinagoga se encontraba en Teherán y, ya fuera intencionadamente o por accidente, se convirtió en víctima de la guerra de agresión de Estados Unidos e Israel contra Irán. Este episodio representa de manera paradigmática la grave amenaza que Israel y el sionismo suponen para la vida y la seguridad de los judíos (y no judíos) en todo el mundo. Aunque solemos pensar en el sionismo como un peligro principalmente para la población musulmana de Asia Occidental, es fundamental entender que también las poblaciones cristianas y judías autóctonas locales están en peligro, al igual que los judíos de todo el mundo e incluso los judíos dentro de Israel. La violencia de la ideología sionista constituye una amenaza universal para quienes discrepan de sus premisas fundamentales. 

De esto hablo hoy con mi invitado, el Dr. Yakov Rabkin, profesor emérito de Historia en la Université de Montréal, investigador en el Centro de Estudios Internacionales de Montreal (CERIUM) y miembro fundador de Independent Jewish Voices de Canadá. Israel blew up a synagogue during the Jewish holiday of Passover. The synagogue was standing in Tehran and either intentionally or by accident became a victim of the US/Israeli war of aggression against Iran. The episode stands paradigmatically for the grave threat that Israel and Zionism pose to the life and safety of Jews (and non-jews) around the world. While we mostly think of Zionism as a danger mainly for the muslim population of West Asia, it is fundamental to understand that also native local Christian and Jewish populations are in danger, as are Jews around the globe and even Jews inside Israel. The violence of Zionist ideology poses a universal threat to those who disagree with its core-premises.

This is what I discuss today with my guest, Dr. Yakov Rabkin, Professor Emeritus of History at the Université de Montréal, scholar at the Montreal Centre for International Studies (CERIUM) and founding member of Canada's Independent Jewish Voices. Israel sprengte während des jüdischen Pessachfestes eine Synagoge. Die Synagoge stand in Teheran und wurde entweder absichtlich oder versehentlich Opfer des US-amerikanisch/israelischen Angriffskrieges gegen den Iran. Diese Episode steht beispielhaft für die ernste Bedrohung, die Israel und der Zionismus für das Leben und die Sicherheit von Juden (und Nichtjuden) auf der ganzen Welt darstellen. Während wir den Zionismus meist als Gefahr vor allem für die muslimische Bevölkerung Westasiens betrachten, ist es grundlegend zu verstehen, dass auch einheimische christliche und jüdische Bevölkerungen gefährdet sind – ebenso wie Juden weltweit und sogar Juden innerhalb Israels. Die Gewalt der zionistischen Ideologie stellt eine universelle Bedrohung für all jene dar, die ihren Grundannahmen widersprechen.
