Im Sudan tobt seit rund 100 Tagen ein blutiger Konflikt zwischen dem Militär und den Milizen des ehemaligen Vizepräsidenten. Schätzungsweise haben die Kämpfe schon 10.000 Opfer gefordert. Man mag meinen, dass sei nun mal trauriger Alltag auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent und weit weg von unserem Leben in Europa. Aber das wäre eine falsche Sicht auf die Dinge. Es gibt nämlich eine direkte Verbindung der Ereignisse im Sudan mit dem russischen Krieg in der Ukraine. Und noch andere arabische Mächte ringen in dem afrikanischen Land um Einfluss.
A bloody conflict between the military and the former vice president's militias has been raging in Sudan for around 100 days. It is estimated that the fighting has already claimed 10,000 victims. You might think that this is just sad everyday life on the African continent and far away from our lives in Europe.
But that would be a wrong way of looking at things. There is a direct connection between the events in Sudan and the Russian war in Ukraine. And other Arab powers are fighting for influence in the African country.
