Das Gebiet des Gaus München-Oberbayern umfasste den Kreis Oberbayern; lediglich im Westen hin zu Schwaben gab es Abweichungen, indem der NS-Kreis Friedberg dem Gau Schwaben zugeordnet war, während einige Orte im östlichen Gebiet des schwäbischen Bezirksamts Kaufbeuren dem Gau München-Oberbayern unterstanden.
